Your home, your style, your space – You have a wonderful new place with more room and tall ceilings, and all the potential in the world to make your space the perfect place for family gatherings. But exactly how do you start your decorating journey? Should you go with a traditional look or is your style more modern and chic? Either way attempting to renovate your home can be an exhilarating yet daunting experience. Fortunately, Metrie had you in mind when they developed their Then & Now Finishing Collections™, which offers coordinated trim and interior doors to suit a wide range of decorating styles that help take the guesswork out of selecting interior finishings. Creating that perfect space is just a Collection away.

Moulding selection made easy – Traditionally, it’s been difficult to pull together beautiful designs because selecting and purchasing moulding, trim elements and interior doors has been complicated. Gone are the days of rummaging through bins to find the best casing to match the dimensions of your baseboard. Technical knowledge is no longer required to create an exquisitely finished space. Each of Metrie’s five Then & Now Finishing Collections™ includes perfectly coordinated and proportioned elements to ensure every piece aligns properly with minimal effort.

Wilsonart did not disappoint and "Brought IT", so to speak, to KBIS this year.  They are creating surfaces that meld with the current modern design trend along with some spectacular realistic natural elements.  When it comes to your home you want products that will be durable, sustainable and timeless.  This is exactly what I saw during my visit to the Wilsonart Booth at KBIS this year as part of the Modenus BlogTourKBIS Design Hounds. (See previous post ~ Design Hounds Take on KBIS #BlogTourKBIS)

The company manufactures and distributes High Pressure Laminate, Quartz, Solid Surface, Coordinated TFL and Edgebanding and other engineered surface options for use in furniture, office and retail space, countertops, worktops and other applications. Wilsonart Ultra Matte Laminate Finish

The smooth texture and soft touch of Wilsonart’s new Ultra Matte Finish provides an on-trend low-sheen option for stone looks that rivals natural materials. The new finish will premiere on six of the new Wilsonart Laminate designs, also being unveiled at the show. Visit www.wilsonart.com/finish-options for more info on the variety Wilsonart has to offer.
Wilsonart® Laminate
Sticks and stones inspire the timeless beauty of the 24 new laminate patterns. Twenty stone designs, like Cote d’Azur and Marmo Bianco, feature veining and fracturing for a luxurious style while four woodgrain patterns, like Antique Bourbon Pine and Planked Texas Walnut, add a feeling of familiarity and warmth. Visit www.wilsonart.com/laminate for samples this May.

Wilsonart® Quartz
The eight new quartz patterns range widely in design from extra-large veining and movement to smoother styles in medium to fine/small particulates. All maintain a trend-forward neutral palette of white, grey and black allowing them to be mixed and layered with other quartz, as well as solid surface and laminate designs. This “material mixology” lends texture and richness to a space that’s perfectly coordinated and beautifully designed. Visit www.wilsonart.com/quartz
Wilsonart® Solid Surface
Carrara marble looks, linear movement and translucency in shades of white and grey dominate the eight new solid surface designs for a timeless, clean and pure look. As white and grey continue to be the neutrals of choice, these additions also coordinate with one another to create looks that range from demure to daring. Visit www.wilsonart.com/solidsurface for samples this June.
Wilsonart® VDL Artfully Repurposed Woods
Sometimes, you want something just a little different. That’s Wilsonart’s Virtual Design Library. From gently weathered to intricate marquetry, the 23 patterns in the “Artfully Repurposed Woods” collection tell a story of America’s spirited history while honoring sustainability. Marquetry, the art of applying decorative inlays to a structure to create elaborate designs, emphasizes the importance of reusing and recycling materials. The clean, geometric lines of these designs contrast with the weathered woodgrains for a collection that adds a touch of modern comfort to any space. Barefoot & Bellini's night compliments of Mohawk - photo credit Felix O.B. ~ FXO Photography
KBIS, in conjunction with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) is an inspiring, interactive platform that showcases the latest industry products, trends and technologies. KBIS is the voice of the kitchen and bath industry and has been for more than 50 years. Combine this epic kitchen and bath industry show with a group of Design Bloggers from across the country and you have yourself a slice of design blogger heaven.
Just back from KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show) I had the pleasure of being part of the Modenus BlogTour KBIS group fondly known as Design Hounds.  When you become a #DesignHound you become part of an elite group of Design Bloggers and the relationships that are formed along the way transform into lifelong friendships that span across the globe.  As you can see from the photo above we are a close group...this was us at the Barefoot and Bellini's event sponsored by Mohawk showcasing their SmartStrand Silk Reserve.  We were able to take a break from the show floor, kick off our shoes and experience the astonishing softness of Mohawks SmartStand Silk Reserve while sipping on Bellini's.

It was such a pleasure spending time with my fellow #BlogTourKBIS Design Hounds ....

Style Sheet | Open Plan Kitchen with Mediterranean Warmth

Time2Design Kitchen Style Sheet...

Kitchen Style - Open Plan with Mediterranean Warmth

Shown here the cabinet door style ~ DeWils Madisson, cabinet finish ~ stained solid cherry, countertops ~ granite, backsplash ~ subway tile with mosaic inset, floors ~ porcelain tile, hardware ~ brushed nickel knob.

Centrally located in the home this kitchen opens up to an adjoining family room and dining area making this open plan kitchen the true center or "heart" of the home.  The contrast of the solid cherry cabinetry finished in a warm chestnut finish contrasted against the lighter floor tile and granite gives this kitchen a beautiful warm Mediterranean feel.

Being so open the custom wood hood creates the perfect focal point in this kitchen and is nicely complimented by the oversized subway tile at the backsplash and mosaic inset over the cooktop.  In addition the raised countertop at the island provides a great seating area for guests and the lower countertop space allows for a nice oversized area to use while preparing meals.

The completed Time2Design Kitchen...

Creating a kitchen that functions for the needs of our clients is, in our opinion, the number one priority of kitchen design.  Second is to design a kitchen that is aesthetically pleasing and compliments the interior design of the home.

During the design process, with Time2Design, we create a style sheet that shows the kitchen design elements ~ cabinet door style, wood species, finish selection, countertop selection, flooring and backsplash option.  This allows you to see how the style and finishes compliment one another creating your individual kitchen style.
